Description

Location: Casino Pisanelli, has a very secluded position in the middle of an olive grove, accessible by a charming country lane. The neighbouring villages of Specchia and Ruffano are among the best preserved villages in Salento. With its central location, this is an ideal starting point to visit the area and enjoy the rocky or the sandy coast.

History: This historical house was built in 1790 as a hunting lodge and its baroque façade is quite remarkable. The main house and the former stable buildings have been carefully restored to provide comfort and privacy. It has been featured in numerous magazines.

Garden and pool: Dating back to the end of the 18th century, the garden was conceived at the same time as the house and structured according to philosophical conceptions, giving it a quite unique atmosphere. It is a large, walled rectangle, with beautiful niches at the cardinal points and a stone pergola running along the perimeter. Two paved pathways divide the rectangle into four parts, a symbol of paradise, with a champion magnolia tree at the centre, providing a haven of peace and shade. The collection of plants, notably wisteria, climbing roses and cacti, will delight amateurs A renowned architect designed the swimming pool so as not to disrupt this ancient symmetry. The two parts of the pool, on either side of the pathway, are linked by an underwater passage. Shade and sunbeds are provided on either side of the pool. A stone staircase leads to a roof terrace with a shaded seating area, perfect to enjoy the view of the garden and sunset drinks.

House: The main house faces the garden directly. It comprises two large master bedrooms with four-poster beds and en-suite bathrooms. A sitting room with open fire, the main kitchen and a TV area are also in this part. A famous contemporary artist created murals for the entrance hall. The whole building enjoys floor heating, making it comfortable in all seasons. There are lateral patios on either side, one of them shaded for outdoor dining; a laundry room complete the building. The rooms all have air-conditioning/heating. A closed service area provides ample parking space, shaded by a series of solar panels, making the house ecologically friendly. It also has its own well water and filtering system.

Personal note: We believe this house can please anyone looking for a truly authentic and aesthetic experience. Its combination of rural location and intellectual tinge make it equally suitable for families or groups of friends. The staff has been with the owners for many years and look after the house and guests with dedication.

Policies
Check-in 04:30 p.m. - 07:30 p.m.; for arrivals after 7:30 p.m. the check-in time must be agreed upon in advance. Check-out by 10:00 a.m., if not otherwise agreed. The client shall pay a damage deposit indicated on the below “Payments”. This deposit must be paid either along with the rental balance through a bank transfer or in cash upon arrival. The deposit shall be refunded at check-out, except in the event where damages are incurred during the rental period. However, within the maximum term of 3 days from the restitution of the keys, the owner has the right to claim compensation for possible damage to the property or to the objects existing therein that, although not noted at the time of the client’s departure, are found and assessed afterwards.
